When the first Seal is opened, in Revelation 6: 1-2, we see a white horse and rider released. The one opening the scroll is Christ the Lamb so this is not Christ coming but someone who could be mistaken for Christ. This rider has a bow and a crown so he/she is a leader with power. When I think about this I think of all the different Christian denominations with different messages and wonder how anyone can decide which one is right. Because I see this rider coming disguised as Christ my thoughts here are only of churches claiming to be Christian. I have to ask myself, am I following Christ the Lamb or Christ the rider and how would I know. The answer for me comes in two parts. First, does the church I participate in follow the teachings of the Bible (which means I should study the Bible)? Second, what’s in my heart is what matters to God who chooses me not me choosing him. So, if I’ve made a mistake I’ll leave it in God’s hands and trust in the redeeming power of Christ’s blood.
