Worthy is the Lamb

In Revelation 5:11-14 we see all creation worshiping and praising God and the Lamb. Terrible things are about to happen on earth and yet all creation is worshiping and praising God and the Lamb. Why?

When I think about this my first thought is that I don’t praise or worship God when things go wrong. I tend to ask why and when will all the pain and suffering end. Not just for me but for all the people having to endure the suffering of war and natural catastrophes. As I think more about this, isn’t asking God why a form of praise? It acknowledges God as the one who has the power to do something about all the suffering. It acknowledges a belief in God. I know praise usually means acceptance of the actions taken and asking why doesn’t indicate acceptance of Gods plan but maybe it does. Faith is accepting without seeing yet it doesn’t diminish our desire to see God. Maybe asking why is accepting Gods plan without knowing why but still wanting to know why.  When we go to church and pray for the victims we are worshiping and praising God. So, maybe we do worship and praise God in the face of difficulties.

Why in Revelation was all creation praising God and the Lamb? It seems to be because the end, the final judgment, is finally coming. They are praising God for sending the Lamb to take away the sins of the world and they are praising the Lamb for submitting to the will of the Father.

There will be a time when we know when and why so until then lets continue to praise and worship God.
