In the first chapter of Revelation John talks about Lampstands. He also explains the symbolism to give us a hint that this book will be filled with symbols. I watched a TV show this weekend that talked about Apocalypse and tended to take sections of Revelation very literally. This can lead people down the wrong path and cause them to look at Revelation as a predictor of the future instead of looking at it as a warning to remain faithful to God and a promise of a brighter future.
